No one person or horse is exactly the same as the next. Though common patterns exist, we are all individuals, with individual needs, wants, likes and dislikes. It is to this point that Hands On Healing is committed to providing bespoke treatments to each and every client.
With many techniques at disposal, each session is approached with the absolute best benefit of the client in mind. There is no set time allocated to sessions – anything from 45 minutes to 90 minutes are possible. Techniques are not divvied up into specific services. As such there is a set cost for human sessions and a set cost for equine sessions.
Additional costs do apply to equine treatments. These costs are travelling fees and/or Equissage sessions should those be booked as an additional service
Below please find further information on the various techniques at disposal:
- Balinese Scalp Massage
Though classified as a scalp massage this method works over the neck, shoulders, arms and head and is usually performed in the seated position.
Unlike an Indian head massage which tends to have the effect of stimulating and invigorating the recipient of the treatment, the Balinese Scalp Massage is aimed at being a luxurious, relaxing and soothing therapy that brings a feeling of peace and calm to the receiver, as well as relief from mental and emotional strain.
- Swedish Massage
This is the most classic form of massage and is also known as classic or holistic massage depending on where you are in the world. It uses the essential massage strokes and sequences to achieve its aims of bringing all the body’s systems into a state of homeostasis or balance.
It facilitates harmony and equilibrium in the body and helps to ease many various conditions, aches and pains. Most often these techniques are used as a more broad treatment, rather than especially targeted. These techniques are often implemented in combination for other forms of massage
- Hot (and Cold) Stone Massage
This massage technique is highly effective and uses naturally formed basalt stones which are heated in order to perform the massage. The hot stones as well as heated hands are applied to the body delivering a very comforting and luxuriating massage that is able to release a lot of tension and aid the body in detoxing. This technique has a very calming, relaxing and soothing effect.
Cold stones can be incorporated into hot stone techniques. This provides a form of thermotherapy which delivers a more amplified detoxing effect than hot stones on their own. This massage is also effective at assisting the body with rectifying imbalances within one’s muscle tone and tension as both heat and cold induce the muscles to separate responses and balance between tension and slack within the muscles is thereby encouraged.
- Pregnancy safe techniques
These techniques avoid placing the recipient in a prone position (laying on their stomach/face down).
This massage is very gentle and is designed to be tailored to suited women who are pregnant. I find however that this massage is effective for any individual seeking touch therapy that is very mothering and nurturing or needing to avoid the prone position for a multitude of possible reasons.
For pregnant ladies however it is a wonderful way of finding relief from the less comfortable physical symptoms of pregnancy in a way that is both safe and effective for you and baby.
